Steinfurth Rose Museum

The museum for the rose is located in Bad Nauheim’s district Steinfurth. In 1886, active rose growers transformed the village into a Rose-Mecca. Already founded in 1974, this special museum was finally opened in 1990. Collections, research and exhibitions revolve solely around the Queen of flowers.

Porcelain, artificial flowers, books, graphics and paintings are some of the items collected.

In this museum interdisciplinary thinking through observation has long become reality: natural-, technological- and cultural history are closely linked. The visitor does not only learn how to grow roses but also about their features – these are all based on the number five. Here you will find out why the rose is the symbol of feminity, love, beauty, perishability and secrecy.

Apart from its main tasks of collecting, preserving, researching, exhibiting and educating, the Rose Museum started to establish international contacts since 1990. Step by step it fulfills its own aspirations to be a cosmopolitan museum for the prickly beauty.
